Puketapu School

Welcome to Puketapu School

Welcome, Haere Mai,

Thank you for visiting the Puketapu School website and for taking the time to find out about our school; hopefully- your community school!

All good schools are the result of the input from a wide range of people over a long period of time.  Puketapu School  was established in 1864  with 22 pupils attending on the first day. To this day our school continues to be extremely fortunate in having a dedicated and highly skilled staff, a committed Board of Trustees and a very supportive group of parents who have developed our attractive grounds and facilities. They continue to contribute to the opportunities we provide for our pupils and the wider community. We value these partnerships and are constantly looking for ways to improve them.

Our school is at the heart of the village of Puketapu, (Sacred Hill) close to the Tutaekuri River , and surrounded by hills.   Puketapu children make the most of this beautiful environment and love learning in and outside the classroom.
Our children are Caring, Connected, Creative, Active Life- Long Learners. We are very proud of their achievements.

Our staff too are learners, professional and hard working. Learning programmes are tailored to meet needs, providing choice, challenge, extension and support.

We seek to nurture each child’s potential and celebrate their successes and achievements.

Literacy (reading and writing) and Numeracy (mathematics) have always been a priority at Puketapu School within a balanced, broad and place based curriculum.

We strive to provide our learners with the very best opportunities, programmes and resources to support their learning. What happens in schools now is probably quite different from what it was like when you were there. Why not come in and see us in action?

I look forward to meeting you and your family/ whanau
