ROAD SAFETY, PARKING AND SCHOOL ENTRANCE
There have recently been a few occasions where we have had to remind people about the need to obey safe driving practices around school. We don’t like doing this, so please adhere to the following to help keep our students safe:
- Park only in the designated parking spaces – these are angled parking on the road and are clearly marked in white paint. Do not ‘wait’ in illegal areas.
- Leave the disabled parking spaces in the car park for legitimate users.
- The ‘turning circle’ is a drop off zone. Children need to be ready to hop out with bag. The driver should not have to leave their seat.
- Please do not U turn.
- The speed limit past the school at arrival and departure times is a recommended 40kph.
- The speed limit past a stationery school bus is 20kph.
SCHOOL GATE
You will have noticed that the larger school gate has been closed most mornings. The reason for this is to control vehicle access up and down the drive at busy times. Whilst we have contractors visiting the school we want to reduce the chances of an accident happening. Once the jobs have been completed and we are confident that vehicle access can be safely controlled we will re-open this gate. In the long term there is a plan to install a pedestrian gate so that students can access the school grounds more safely
BUSES - (Covid-19)
Preparation in the event of driver sickness:
We have been advised - if drivers become sick, the Dartmoor, Moteo and Swamp Road routes will be amalgamated. Moteo and Swamp will be picked up at a later time after Dartmoor students are dropped home. We will advise you all if this occurs.
